Defence Forces Open Day - Curragh Camp
« on: March 30, 2016, 07:30:23 PM »
Hello All,

CLRI have been invited to attend the Defence Forces Open Day in the Curragh Camp on the 24th April 2016. The open day is scheduled to take place from 1200Hrs - 1600Hrs. If interested we can get a visit to the Vehicle Workshops prior to the open day at about 1130Hrs.

The open day is expected to be quite large and will involve weapons displays, military bands, parade of Defence Forces vintage and modern fleet of armoured vehicles. The museum will also be open which is worth a visit.
There will be catering and kids entertainment also.
CLRI will have a reserved area to park. I understand some other clubs are attending such as the Royals Royce Club.
I suggest we meet and convoy in, park up and then go visit the workshops. We can leave whenever we want so no one will be stuck there for the day.
Not sure if this clashes with an off-road day as it is the last Sunday of the month but it is open to any Club members who fancy a more sedate event!!!  Wel;
Comment here if you can attend.
Give me a buzz on 086-8329673 if you want any more info and before you ask tearing up the Curragh plains is not an option!!!!
Cheers
Phil

That sounds like a great opportunity,  maybe the monthly event could slide a week one way or another.

Sounds savage Phil & well done, & yes Paul The 24th is the last Sunday of the month, but as the following weekend is the May bank holiday we've already decided to move the event as it'll be our annual Glendalough House camping weekend, (29/4/16 - 2/5/16) so it won't clash :icon_thumleft:

Should be free for this.

UPDATE ON CURRAGH CAMP OPEN DAY.
Morning All.
Quick update for the Open Day at the Curragh Camp this Sunday. I suggest we meet from 1000hrs at Toughers Restaurant between Naas and Newbridge. We will be leaving here at 1100hrs sharp to convoy into the Curragh.
For anyone that can't make the meet up just come straight to the Curragh Camp at any time and follow the directions of the Military Police. Im not sure if they will park you with the rest of the CLRI vehicles or in one of the car parks.
The tour of the workshops will take place at 1130Hrs. We will be picked up by shuttle bus and brought down and back up. It would be helpful if I could get some idea of the number of vehicles and people.
Just comment below. See you all Sunday!
