Hi,

Could people who know that they're going to be at the punch hunt put their names down. Also if you know who your navigator is stick their name down too and what vehicle you'll be in, and could you let us know whether you intend on doing the tough or the not so tough course. This is just a gauge of numbers so you're free to pick whichever course you want on the day.

Cheers
Tom

Leon(Driver) & Kate(Nav) and Kwagga(Disco) will be doing the easy route.
Conditions to be investigated on the day to see if AT's can manage on the extreme route.

I'll be tackling the easy course with a yet-to-be-determined navigator.

For a newbie who does not really know what a punch hunt is and is new to all this stuff, would there be volunteers who would be willing to take such a person along as a passenger, should such a person turn up on the day?  Undecided

If it wasn't for the Freelander thing you could have come with me!

Ok Ok, if you are you are up for it, you can be my "Punch Navigator"

The idea is that punches are set up in difficult places to get to (in a vehicle), the punches are secured to tree/rock etc, each vehicle has a punch card secured in the vehicle. The idea is, you have to get your vehicle in a position where you can use the punch to mark your punch card. The gist is, you are given 4 punches at a time to get, then you check in at RV1 and get another 4. I think we set 15 extreme punches and 20 girlie punches last time.

The extreme section is for vehicles with mud tyres, winches etc,. The Easier course is for more road standard vehicles running on all terrains.

Hope that made sense?

Hi Declan,

Absolutely come along on the day. I know of a number of people with vehicles but no navigators. I'm sure someone will be more than happy to have you navigate for them.
I'm assuming that you can read a map and combined with the drivers knowkedge of the forest it should be a grand pairing.

Cheers

Just another general thought....

As we will have a good group together, what about having a collection bucket for the "4X4 Challenge"?

There you go, Dave has offered to have you as his navigator just as I was typing my reply.

Declan, you're in good hands.

Also that's a good idea about the collection bucket.
We'll have it at RV1 as thats where people will be congregating when the hunt is over.

If you were able to make it to the punch hunt, you could stick together with "Team Freelander" and settle the matter for once and for all  Grin
